WEG - Australian Eventing Team Pass Vet Inspection
Australia’s Eventing team line up Australia’s Eventing line up for World Equestrian Games announced
Australia’s eventing team has passed their first test of the World Equestrian Games (WEG) with all eight horses accepted at trot up ahead of the start of tomorrow’s competition.
The Aussies have their work cut out for them with heavy down pour creating very wet conditions combined with a challenging cross country course.
But with a strong depth of talent in the team, Australian Eventing Chef d’Equipe Prue Barrett, is confident the Aussies will be right in the mix.
“We had eight horses all pass trot up and with the depth of talent in both our horses and riders, I’m confident we’ll be up there once competition gets underway,” said Barrett.
Following the trot up, the final team configuration was confirmed and is as follows:
TEAM
Sam Griffiths & Paulank Brockagh
Chris Burton & TS Jamaimo
Shane Rose & Taurus
Paul Tapner & Kilronan
INDIVIDUALS
Bill Levett & Shannondale Titan
Stuart Tinney & Pluto Mio
Shane Rose will ride his second horse Taurus, with Shane and team management deciding not to run CP Qualified due to a minor hoof injury.
In order to provide the Aussies with the best chance of team success, Taurus will come into the team for Shane. He plans to run CP Qualified at the Burleigh International Horse Trials in a week.
Barrett said they were fortunate to be able to select the best possible team from the eight horses available, and believes the right mix of talent in the team will keep the Aussies in the medal hunt.
“We’re going to face a challenging cross country course there is no doubt about it. But what we have are combinations, in both the teams and individuals, who are used to taking on tough conditions and producing results. It’s going to be an exciting four days of competition,” she said.
Eventing will kick start on Thursday 28th August with the running order of riders to be released on the event website once confirmed – visit www.normandy2014.com for more details.
