2014 Saddleworld Dressage Festival - Set for Fun!

As we approach the end of year festivities, there is an air of anticipation for fun times with like-minded friends and making the most of the opportunity to see Australia’s best dressage horses in action at the 2014 Saddleworld Dressage Festival, from the 11th to 14th December.  The event incorporates the Victorian Dressage Championships.

The Festival is held at the Werribee Park National Equestrian Centre, where the competition, trade village, food and entertainment are all within easy access and assure a welcoming ambiance for all.

The Event Director Deborah McNicol said that the event is a huge undertaking and 2014 promised to be a wonderful celebration of the sport.  She acknowledged the main name sponsor Saddleworld and said, “We are delighted to have fully subscribed classes and strong interest in the Festival.   Without Saddleworld’s support, entry fees and other costs would be higher, so we are pleased to be able to keep the event affordable and appealing.  The Organising Committee has worked very hard to ensure that the Festival will be successful and we look forward to catching up with old friends and new.  We encourage fans to thank Saddleworld for helping to stage this important milestone for Australian dressage!”

Traditionally this is a wonderful celebration of the horse and the place where like-minded friends catch up to enjoy the competition and camaraderie.  At the end, we will see new state champions and combinations that will go into 2015, tagged as strong prospects to train on and advance the sport at national and international level.

The Saddleworld Dressage Festival is a fitting end of the 2014 competition season and event organiser’s welcome combinations from the far reaches of this vast country.  The competition will take in EA classes from Preliminary up to Advanced and FEI tests from Prix St Georges to CDN Grand Prix with a Freestyle event on the Saturday night. The event will also conduct Young Horse classes for 4,5 and 6 year olds.

With the strong uptake of pony dressage, the Saddleworld Dressage Festival will see EA classes for ponies and Young Pony events for 4 and 5 years olds.

The event also welcomes Para-equestrians, and strongly supported classes for this amazing group will be featured on all four days.

The Saddleworld Dressage Festival also incorporates the Marcus Oldham Challenge, a competition run over several rounds for riders 16 and under 25 years of age at Prix St Georges level.  Many of Australia’s dressage stars are previous winners.  The prize is a trip to Aachen Show (Germany) and training in Europe.
