Saddleworld 2014 Brisbane CDI - Day 3 Excitement

Brisbane CDI Program

Even sunny Queensland succumbed to the winter chills that have swept over the southern states and the dress code for the Saturday night highlights the fashion was warm winter woollies and well-padded parkas.  However the chill was superficial as the Saddleworld 2014 Brisbane CDI enjoyed glowing acclaim from both competitors and spectators and the love of dressage kept everyone warm and very comfortable about the way the Australian dressage is progressing.

Tor Medium ChampionPresentation time is always fun and a time to congratulate good riding and training and to honour the horses that have fulfilled expectations and given spectators and fans a great show and much inspiration.

Congratulations to Saturday’s winners and placegetters. The standard of riding and training has been outstanding and the horses truly world class.

Pictured right: Tor Van Den Berge riding the talented imported stallion Lauries As were the winners of the Saddleworld EA, FEI Medium Tour Freestyle (CDN). This stallion stands at Remi Studin Laidley, Queensland.

Victoria WelshLeft - Another successful combination from the home state was Victoria Welch riding Glogau, a lovely grey gelding, bred in Queensland by the Kinnordy Stud stallion, Gymnastic Star.

This successful combination were winners of the Pryde’s Easifeed Intermediate Freestyle.

Congratulating Victoria is Ron Major from Prydes Easifeeds. The Gunnedah based specialist equine feed company are great supporters of dressage.

Australian Olympian and dressage Judge Rikki McMillan also acknowledges Vicoria's great performance.

The winner of the Gary Lung CDI-J Individual, was the delightful Annie Simmons and she rode the beautiful and talented imported Hanoverian mare Florett (by Florestan). This horse has a fan club all of her own and has been campaigned by top riders such as Tor Van Den Berg and Di Jenkyn.

Annie SimmonsIt is great to see Australian dressage "coming of age" with well trained and very successful horses moving on and into the hands of young riders, helping them advance their riding and competition skills.

This has always been a shortcoming in Australia as most good horses stay with their owners and there is not enough established equine talent to supply the demand.

Florett's importer and previous owner/trainers would be very proud to see this wonderful horse on top and sharing her knowledge.

Right - Annie Simmons and Florett win the first phase of the CDI-J event.

Grace KayLeft - winner of the Austack Produce CDI-Y Individual competition was local combination Elloise Devlin riding Brimstone Anakiwa (see picture below)

Second place went to NSW rider Grace Kay (pictured left) who rode her outstanding Karringal Jamirquai, by the stallion Jive Magic who was very successfully campaigned by Australian Champion Rozzie Ryan.

Competing at an international quality venue with a very knowledgable crowd in the audience, is all part of the experience needed to pave the way to becoming a future Olympian...Go, Aussie, Aussie, Aussie!

The Saddleworld 2014 Brisbane CDI has provided a perfect opportunity to groom the stars of the future.

This combination wowed the judges and crowd alike, at the 2014 Dressage and Jumping with the Stars event when they took out the 4 YO Championship.

Guest rider Helen Langehanenberg No 2 world rankd dressage rider (Sponsored by Prestige and star of the Saddleworld Dressage Masterclass) was delighted with the horse's trainability and acceptance, which she said, "showed maturity beyond his years".
