Loriot Royal Doulton (Bart) has a very strong following from owners of his progeny, friends at the Woodend Pony Club along with members and friends of The Australian Stud Saddle Pony Society where his show-ring success has hailed him a legend.

Just days short of his 21st birthday Bart notched up a record breaking win as the Supreme Ridden Exhibit, for the third time at the Society’s prestigious show in Bendigo, Victoria.

Bart’s owner and the proprietor of Loriot Stud in Newham, Jennifer Reeves-Singles said, “We have been customers of Mustad Saddleworld in Kilmore for a very long time and they have played an important role, helping to ensure that my daughter Jemma and our horses are turned out to meet the highest standards of show ring presentation.”

Jenny tells Bart’s story …

“Bart is a Palomino sired by the respected UK import Syon Royal Portrait.  He is registered Riding Pony, Part Welsh, Arabian Derivative and Australian Saddle Pony.”

“Loriot Royal Doulton’s show debut was on the 7th September 1996 at the Royal Adelaide Show where he won the Palomino Yearling colt class and went on to be sashed the Champion Palomino Stallion or Colt. He has since been the recipient of 33 Royal Show Championships, 5 Supreme Championships and 20 Reserve Championships, his most recent win being at the 2016 Royal Canberra Show.”

“Bart spent the first 15 years of his life as a stallion, but he showed great potential as a ridden pony.   He had done his job for our stud, so with a ridden show career in mind, he was gelded and became a saddle pony for Jemma who was 10 years old at the time. Bart loved training and as a combination, he and Jemma really clicked.”

Jemma Reeve-Singles says "I LOVE my pony!!!"

“On the 13th October Bart will celebrate his 21st Birthday and there will be a big party for all of his human and horsey friends with a bran mash cake and 21 candles, we might have to help him to blow them out!”
