Teagan Marsh and Monty tell their story …

Teagan recently spoke to Saddleworld and said, “Just over 12 months ago I decided to set my sights on qualifying for the Saddleworld Victorian Equestrian Interschools Series Grand Final.”

This event has been on the junior event calendar for 10 years and was designed to give primary and secondary school students well-organised events and year on year goals to progress their horsemanship and riding abilities.

Teagan Marsh explained that many of her friends were enthusiastic about taking part and it was a fantastic goal for her school’s equestrian team.

She added, “I knew it would be a lot of work and I would have difficulties keeping up with the studies and homework that is required of a year 12 student at Gisborne Secondary School”.

“With careful management (and a lot of help from my mum, Jo) I felt that I could manage to ride 4 to 5 times a week and have my weekly lesson with Deb Court at the Fimister Park Equestrian Centre in Kilmore East.”

“Deb has given me great support with my pony Monty (Permission to Shine ll) and we took part in two of the three VEIS qualifiers and were delighted that the results meant that we could to take part in the Saddleworld Victorian Equestrian Interschools Series Grand Final on the 1st and 2nd of August, 2015 at the Werribee Park National Equestrian Centre.”

Teagan added, “I was over the moon with Monty, he knew what he had to do and our Victorian results been good enough for us to quality for the Australian Interschool Championships in Sydney later in the year.”

“I would like to thank my coach Deb Court, she has really helped us to be competitive … and of course, thankyou to Saddleworld for sponsoring the VEIS Grand Final.    We had a great time and all of the competitors learned a lot from the experience.

Teagan concluded by saying, “All of the competitors understand that without the generosity of sponsors and a hard working committee, this event would not have been as successful as it was.  We are looking forward to the Aussie Championships and taking part in the VEIS in 2016.”
